Building on the success of the Vivo 5, popularly known as a Selfie King, Vivo 5 Plus is an enhanced version of the previous model with the inclusion of dual front selfie cameras. The official launch date of Vivo 5 Plus in Malaysia will take place on 20th of January 2017. Prior to the Vivo 5 Plus official launch, the phone is already available for early pre-orders from DirectD, an authorized distributor for Vivo. Vivo 5 Plus will then officially go on sale the next day on 21st of January 2017 and the first lucky 100 customers will get to walk away with a mystery prize, while stock lasts.
In terms of the Vivo 5 Plus build and looks, you might mistake it as an Apple iPhone 7 on the first glance. However, after looking at the U-shaped antenna lines, you will realize that it is indeed not an Apple iPhone 7. Vivo 5 Plus is powered by a 2 GHz octa-core Snapdragon 625 processor and it comes with 4GB of RAM, 64GB of internal storage that can be further expanded to 256 using a dedicated microSD slot.
Since Vivo 5 Plus is specifically made for taking selfies, the phone comes equipped with a 16-megapixel camera on the back and a front camera with two different sensors; 20-megapixel and 8-megapixel. The primary 20-megapixel front camera is responsible to capture high level of details while the secondary 8-megapixel camera was designed to capture depth-of-field information at the same time. The combination of these dual camera sensors will give a blurry bokeh effect to your photos, an effect that is similar to the photos taken by the HTC One M8 rear camera and Lenovo Vibe S1 front camera. Lenovo was the first company that came up with the dual front camera concept for their Vibe 1 phone model. The front camera also has LED flash feature and all of the 3 cameras on the Vivo 5 Plus are also equipped with aperture F/2.0 lens. As for the operating system, Vivo 5 Plus will be running on Android 6.0 Marshmallow with Vivo’s Funtouch OS 3.0 user interface skin.
It is expected for the Vivo 5 Plus to be priced from RM1299 to RM1399 according to some websites. However, certain local online retailers such as DirectD are offering pre-orders for RM1799.
