For those of you who are not aware of this benefit from Employee Provident Fund (EPF), do take note of these voluntary contributions by EPF with special government incentives. So, who is eligible for this benefit? Well, housewives, widows and single mothers whose profiles are enlisted in the National Database on Poverty (eKasih), can register for i-Suri and contribute a minimum of RM5 on a monthly basis into their retirement savings accounts, in order to be eligible to receive the government incentive of RM40 per month, which will be deposited into their EPF accounts. In addition, the said housewives, widows and single mothers must be Malaysian citizens and below 60 years old.
For qualified members who wish to participate in i-Suri can register at any EPF counters starting on the 15th of August 2018. If you are eligible, you may not want to miss this program and register yourself as an EPF member at any of the 67 EPF branches nationwide. As already mentioned, once you register yourself for i-Suri, you will be enjoying the same benefits as EPF members such as annual dividends on retirement savings, age 50, 55 and 60 withdrawal, incapacitation benefit and death benefit. Bear in mind that these are on top of the RM40 incentive by the government. Government contributions which are subject to the set terms and conditions will be contributed into the EPF accounts up to RM200 to those who are eligible from August to December 2018. For the following year, the total contribution amount can be up to RM480 per year.
There are three ways that you can make the contribution payment. First, you may submit cash or cheque payment at the EPF’s counter payment. Otherwise, you may do so via the EPF bank panels’ counter such as Maybank, Public Bank Berhad, BSN and RHB Bank. Alternatively for a more convenient way of making the contribution payment, you may do so by transferring money through internet banking by appointed banks like Maybank and Public Bank Berhad.
For more information on i-Suri, you may contact the EPF Contact Management Centre (CMC) at 03-8922 6000 or refer to the EPF website at www.kwsp.gov.my or visit any EPF branches nationwide.
