Xiaomi continues manufacturing another fitness tracker after its own original Mi Band, and Mi Band Pulse variant gained big success among athletic people and individuals whom are searching for a wearable device with health-centric features. In order to maintain its momentum, the third installments of its wearable devices series which had been called the Mi Band 2 had been released on June 2nd 2016. The Mi Band 2 will be the first device in its series to features a screen, and smart-watch style notifications.
Specifications and Features
In general, the Mi Band 2 which is available in multiple colours like green, orange, black, and, blue offers a major upgrade over its predecessors featuring a Touch Button operating mode, and 0.42-inch OLED screen that’s cover by an anti-fingerprint coating and scratch resistant glass. Like its predecessors, the device had been manufactured by Xiaomi to measure sleep, monitor individuals heart rate, track basic movements, and notification alerts. The device is also equipped with an optical heart rate sensor and military grade ADI accelerometer that allows its users to detect their heart rate accurately, consume their fat efficiently, and adjust the motion state intuitively.
At the lower part of the device, there is an anodized 0.05mm ultra-thin button can be found ready to display the heart rate, step count, and time. Although these features served lots of great things for its users, it fell short on battery life. The average battery life of Xiaomi’s wearable devices is 30 days but the Mi Band 2 which is packs with a 70 mAh battery will only deliver an impressive 20-day battery life. However, this is not a lack for the device as it has an IP67 certification that provides dust and water resistance.
Additionally, the Mi Band 2 also features the second generation Bluetooth 4.0 to provide users with fast and stable connections. When it is paired with others smartphone running on Android 4.4 KitKat or higher, and iOS 7.0 or above, the band will vibrate every time the phone receives a call, a message, or third-party apps notification, whereas if the users used Xiaomi smartphone, the band will unlock their phone for them. The Mi Band 2 also comes with a new anti-lost wrist strap that features hypoallergenic silicone to ensure the strap could deliver a breathable space for the skins and resistance against sweat.
A built-in vibration motor is another feature of the Mi Band 2 that will work as a sedentary reminder in order to give the users a buzz when there is inactivity for a long time. Other features includes a screen to display accurate time, a sleep tracker to let them know how the users’ sleeping, a silent alarm to help them wake up, and an easy ways to unlock their phone. To put it briefly, the Mi Band 2 is comfortable to wear, provides users with a wide ranges of features, and is sold at a reasonable price.
