Nintendo Switch: Everything That You Need To Know

Nintendo Switch, the latest gaming console produced by Nintendo, is scheduled to launch on 3rd of March 2017, and pre-orders are already available for those who are eager to get their hands on it before the others. Check out this article to know everything you need to know about Nintendo Switch.

What Is Nintendo Switch?

Previously codenamed as the Nintendo NX or Project NX initially, the Nintendo Switch is the brainchild of the late Satoru Iwata, the fourth president and Chief Executive Officer of Nintendo. According to the Satoru Iwata, Nintendo Switch will be a completely new concept and to proof that Nintendo still has strong interest in maintaining its game system business. Unfortunately, Satoru Iwata was unable to reveal the official name in person because he passed away in July 2015, during the summer.

Release Date

Nintendo Switch is set to be released on 3rd of March 2017 in 31 European countries, including the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Denmark, Russia, and Portugal. Customers in America and South Africa will similarly be able to purchase the device on the same day too. If you can’t wait for the official launching date, you can always pre-order first from several physical and online retailers. However, do it immediately as there are only very limited quantities available and some stroke of luck may also be needed here. The Nintendo Store in New York has also confirmed that they will allow for pre-orders and other stores are expected to follow soon.

Prior to Nintendo Switch’s official price reveal, many people speculated that the Nintendo Switch will be priced a lot cheaper than its other major rivals. However, the Nintendo Switch will cost USD 300 or 29980 Yen in Japan. A price range for the accessories are also available too, and game titles will cost around USD 60 to USD 70 per title. Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is said to be priced around USD 70 while Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is priced around USD 60. Additionally, the Pro Controller will set you back for about USD 86 and a pair of Joy-Con controllers is about USD 93.

Equipped with a 6.2-inches screen capable of 720p resolution, the Nintendo Switch essentially looks like a mini tablet with two controllers, known as Joy-Cons, to be clipped on either side of the device, giving you the experience of a Wii U GamePad.

These Joy-Cons can also be removed when the Nintendo Switch is slotted into the docking station. By slotting into the docking station, you can use the Nintendo Switch as a regular game console and connect it to your television. Joy-Cons can also be clipped on separate Joy-Con grip accessory in order to transform them into a complete gamepad.

Besides that, you can also use the each of the Joy-Cons as a basic controller by itself. This allows two players to be involved in a game when you are on the go.

Even though Nintendo has not officially published any specifications, it is assumed that the Nintendo Switch will come with an Octa-core processor and a 256-core Maxwell graphics processor. The device will also be capable of 4K Ultra HD video playback, but only at 30fps due to HDMI 1.4 output.

The operating system of Nintendo Switch will most likely be based on Android according to rumours.

Compatible Games

Besides The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, other games that will be launched along with the Nintendo Switch include Splatoon 2, ARMs and, Super Mario Odyssey.
