OnePlus 2 is one the latest flagship phone by OnePlus. The phone is dubbed ‘2016 Flagship killer phone’ by OnePlus. Lets see it this phone lives up to the expectation set by it’s manufacturer.
OnePlus 2 has a 5.5 inches IPS display. The display is bright and we find the colors and contrast pretty good. Viewing is great from all angles. The phone comes with a high quality magnesium alloy body. The quality feels quite good and it does feels like a flagship phone while fits comfortably on hands. Finishing of the phone does indeed makes the phone premium as compared with it’s predecessors.
At the heart of OnePlus 2 is the up to date latest 64 bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor paired with Adreno 430 GPU which is perfect for performance demanding applications such as 3D games. OnePlus 2 comes in a whopping 4GB of RAM which is great for serious multitasking. This phone has a dual sim LTE support. One Plus Two is confirmed to work on Malaysian Telcos which includes Maxis, Digi, Celcom and U-Mobile. The phone comes shipped with Oxygen OS which is OnePlus modded version of Android. To be honest, it feels very much like a Stock Android OS. The OS is clean, smooth and comes with little bloatware. Oxygen OS seems highly customizable with a lot of self preference settings.
OnePlus 2 Speaker is still under performing as it’s predecessor the OnePlus 1. The battery 3,300 mAh battery that comes with OnePlus 2 is quite good which may give you one day of heavy usage. Do take not that this phone is using a USB type C port which is not the typical Android phone charger that you can find. Personally I would prefer a more easy to find generic charger. OnePlus 2 comes with 16GB or 64GB built in storage however on the downside, there are no expandable microSD slot.
There were a lot of speculations when people heard the fingerprint scanner function on OnePlus 2. This phone’s fingerprint scanner is located exactly on the home function button such as the Iphone 6 and the Galaxy S6. The fingerprint scanner is fast and accurate however it may not be perfect. It takes a while to know how to position the finger for the fingerprint function to work correctly unlike what you have in Iphone 6.
OnePlus 2 cameras are not disappointing. The rear camera has a 13 megapixel sensor while the front camera has a 5 megapixel sensor. Focusing is fast with laser auto focus functions. The phone comes with image stabilization to ensure crispy sharp photos even with slow shutter speed at low light.
Although this phone is already available in a lot of countries it is currently available exclusively with Maxis. OnePlus 2 starts from a retail price of RM 1687 before GST. At the moment, you will need special invites to be able to purchase the phone only Maxis only. Yes, the phone is only available exclusively on Maxis at the time or writing. You can secure your invites here
OnePlus 2 is a solid mid range phone at a decent price however it is a little overly toned as a flagship killer phone. The price is temping for the faeatires it’s offering however sadly the hype of flagship killer is overdone.
