The Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge is the kind of phone you got to have once you set your eyes on it. The iPhone 6S Plus looks plain and box-ey next to this beauty. The design on its own will outweigh your reasons of it being an imperfect phone. Not to mention that there is no such thing as a perfect device though the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge could come close to that. Samsung’s determination to make some improvements in each area has proved that there is no need to completely reinvent a phone to make a signicant upgrade. From taking the sketches off Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge, Samsung remodeled it into a stunning looking phone with even greater specs. The beauty will be lining up to tough to beat and near to come flagships like LG G5, HTC One M10 and even Apple iPhone 7.
According to research there’s something about curves and circles that gives us a sense of calmness and elegance and Samsung definitely took note of this advantage. Like the Galaxy Note 5, the glass back curves now so your hands can now be free from dig-ins from those sharp metal edges before. Two slabs of Gorilla Glass Back 4 goes on top and below of a metal rim where there is a lock switch on one side and separated volume keys on the other. Samsung backed off from it’s claim of wanting to implement the new reversible USB-C connector that Nexus 6P, OnePlus 2 and LG G5 has been using. This is probably a blessing in disguise when it means being able to keep all the those microUSB cables we’ve been seasoned with all this while. Both the front and back are equally clean. The front control has a physical button instead of a capacitive pad and hosts Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge’s fingerprint sensor which has the same speed as any other model in the market now. The back of the S7 Edge is safely flat now which means lazy use of the phone is permitted without it rocking from both sides and flipping over.
One of the biggest changes of the Galaxy S7 Edge to it’s precessor the Galaxy S6 Edge is the size and size does matter if you are wondering. It is not only the Edge sides that makes a difference between the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge but Samsung’s respositioning of S7 Edge as a higher end device by enlarging the screen size from 5.1-inches to 5.5-inches. When placed next to the iPhone 6 Plus, the S7 Edge has the same screen size as it’s friend, only that the S7 Edge is narrower, shorter and lighter in weight. Samsung did good in squeezing a pretty large screen into a tiny phoned body which is a sweet implentation. Cruising on the phone in one hand and scrolling up and down with just a thumb is a breeze thanks to this. While the Galaxy S6 Edge was a pain to hold for a long period of time and the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus was simply too big, the S7 Edge is perfect in every way. Samsung S7 Edge also retains its IP68 water resistant feature and quad HD Super AMOLED display (2560 x 1440) with 534 pixels per inch density beating iPhone 6 Plus in terms of display.
The device has a juicy 3,600mAh battery and has a decent battery life performance supporting both wireless and Quick Charging 2.0. The processor of the phone is a Exynos 8 Octa 8890 Octa-Core 2,300 MHz, and 4GB of RAM, 64GB of storage, Nano SIM tray with a MicroSD card slot that can accommodate any type of cards up to 200GB storage and runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow. The Touchwiz, once a negative in the Galaxy series, has reached a point where the skin is no longer a downer with the Galaxy S7 Edge. TouchWiz is much cleaner on the S7 Edge and has improved over time with less pointless bundled apps and immature apps. The 12-megaxpiel camera featuers a f/1.7 and uses 100 percent of the pixels for great focusing resulting in fast auto focus and sleek low light performace. For selfie adventures, there is the 5-megapixel camera which is an average spec for both Samsung S7 Edge and Apple.
The always-on function is also one of S7 Edge’s best feature. If the phone is your second skin, it will be good to know that it never shuts off , as long as you have battery life in it. No more waking up the phone or turning it on with pressing buttons or sliding it up and down. It is just permanently on, displaying a clock, calender or pattern.
The Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge is by far one of the best looking phones with killer battery life and camera specs exceed most of it’s competitor’s expectations and priced at a hefty cost of AUD1,249. It completes what the S6 Edge was and is more than the S6 Edge in all of its aspsects– battery, water resistant, MicroSD slot and more power. Not only does it score in it’s appearance, but it actually has a lot to offer on the insi
