How To Use Google Classroom

Google Classroom is a platform that enables two – way communication between teachers / educators and students. It is a very popular platform today. Furthermore, the implementation of lockdowns around the world does not allow students and educators to meet face to face, so this is a viable medium of choice. This Google Classroom can be done anytime, but must have an internet connection to use it.

How to Create Google Classroom 

  1. Browse the Google Classroom portal at classroom.google.com using your personal computer or using smartphone
  2. Click Get Started and enter the Google email address you want to use for Google Classroom 3. Press the plus (+) button at the right side
  3. There are two options: Join Class and Create Class, select Create Class to create Google Classroom 
  4. There are two role choices: teacher or student, choose one of them 
  5. Enter the name of the class, section, subject, and room 
  6. Once the class is created, Google Classroom will automatically generate the class code 
  7. This class code must be shared with the students so that they can join the existing class 

 

How to Register Students / Students in Google Classroom 

  1. Browse the Google Classroom portal at classroom.google.com using your personal computer or using smartphone  
  2. Click Get Started and enter the Google email address you want to use for Google Classroom 3. Click on the plus (+) button the right side
  3. There are two options: Join Class and Create Class, if you want to join one of the available classes, select Join Class 
  4. Enter the 7 digit Class Code that your teacher / educator has received 
  5. If you have already joined the class, you can already see the assignments or the shared on Stream or Classwork 
  6. Teachers can also review student names in the People section 
  7. Teachers can also register the student’s name by clicking the Add Student and entering the student’s email address 

 

How to Distribute An Assignment 

  1. Click on the ‘Classwork’ tab 
  2. Select ‘Assignment’ 
  3. Name the assignment, type the instructions, put in any links or additional materials. Then choose who this assignment is for and set deadlines   
  4. Click ‘Assign’ 
  5. View assignments 
  6. View calendars and student to-do lists in your Google Drive folder 

 

How To Share An Assignment In One Template 

  1. Click on the ‘Classwork’ tab 
  2. Click on ‘Create’ and select ‘Assignment’ 
  3. Type in the task name, more information 
  4. Open a new ‘tab’ on your internet browser 
  5. Type docs.google.com. Make sure you’re signed in with the same gmail account 
  6. Create a new document with questions 
  7. Go back to the ‘pop up’ task earlier 
  8. Set to ‘Make a copy for each student’ 
  9. Click ‘Assign’ 

 

How To Marking / Scoring An Assignment Tasks 

  1. Open the task 
  2. View the ‘Assigned’, Turned In and Graded lists
  3. Select a student, click and view the answer sheet 
  4. Teacher gives comments and scores 
  5. ‘Return’ 
  6. Scroll down for other student answer scripts and provide scores and comments as needed 7. Go back to front page of the assignment, check the numbers and groups of ‘Assigned’, ‘Turned In’ and ‘Graded’ 

 

How to View Student Records 

  1. Click on the ‘People’ tab
  2. Select any student
  3. View records of assignments given to students
  4. Use filters to simplify student assignment records

 

How to Share Reference Material 

  1. Click on the ‘Classwork’ tab
  2. Click on the ‘Create’ button
  3. Select ‘Material’
  4. Provide the title, information and then click ‘Post’

 

How to Make Classroom Assessments / Assessments 

  1. Click on the ‘Grades’ tab 
  2. Scroll down and view the record of the student’s grades in horizontal 

 

How To Make Co-Teaching 

  1. Click on the ‘People’ tab
  2. In the ‘Teachers’ section, click on the person icon 
  3. Enter the email of the additional teacher and the additional teacher will receive the invitation email and the teaching can be done immediately 

 

How To Reuse Post (Reuse Post) 

  1. On the ‘Stream’ tab, find the ‘recycle’ icon 
  2. Click and select any post from different classes 
  3. Click ‘Post’


How To Make Learning On Different Level

  1. Click on the ‘Classwork’ tab 
  2. Click on the ‘Create’ button and Select ‘Assignment’ 
  3. Type in the title and description of the assignment. Select students who are expected to receive this assignment based on different levels of learning ability 
  4. Click ‘Post’ 

 

How to Use Teacher’s Diary 

  1. Click on the menu bar (Menu Bar) 
  2. Click on the ‘Teaching’, ‘To-Do’ 
  3. See the ‘To-review’ (for review) and ‘Reviewed’ sections (fully marked) 

 

How to Use Student Diaries 

  1. Click on the menu bar 
  2. Click on the ‘Enrolled’ and ‘To-Do’ sections 
  3. See ‘To-do’ and ‘Done’ Sections 

 

How to Make Student Selections (Android & Chromebook Only) 

  1. Launch the Google Classroom app on your smartphone, tablet or chromebook 
  2. Select the appropriate class 
  3. Click the ‘People’ tab 
  4. Find the ‘Students Selector’ icon. Touch (tap) 
  5. Click the ‘Next’ button 
  6. Click on the relevant buttons

 

Google Classroom is easy and it’s free of charge. It only requires a Gmail account to sign in and can easily join online classes. Teachers / educators can easily convey knowledge even in cyberspace. Students will also be able to take the class in leisurely, however students should do the assignments or quiz seriously as the scoring will given online.
